10 days in Fiji. Boy can you pack a lot into 10 days if you try.

Our trip started with a boat ride up through the Mamanuca Islands up to the beginning of the Yasawa Islands to Manatray Island Resort. Snorkel, swim with Mantarays, snooze, beer, repeat.  Along the way we met up with Belinda Irvine who had been crowd funding with her FOOD FOR FIJI campaign since February when the devastating Cyclone Winston had ripped through the islands. We went and helped deliver the 4th barge of supplies to the local villages in the Yasawa group. Although the cyclone happened back in Feb, crops can’t be harvested until the end of this year which leaves villages with only the fish they can catch. No coconuts, no vegetables. (They lost all the tops of the palm trees in the storm which means no coconuts). Good deed for the trip, tick.

After saying goodbye to old friends on Mantaray, we headed back down to Nadi to meet up with more buddies, Wispy & Teh. Teh’s family owns a farm in the village of Momi or AKA Paradise. It’s 14 hectares or rolling farmland down to the sea with boat access to the ocean and a short 10 minute trip over to Cloudbreak and the surrounding Mamanuca islands. See? Heaven.  Our days were spent surfing, swimming, downing beer on Cloud 9 (with the rest of the crew who were over for the wedding we were attending), sunset sessions on Namotu and back on the farm, Momi exploring and more taki than you can handle.

While we were there Fiji had a pretty big swell come through and on the one day we had prior engagements, cloudbreak peaked at 8-10ft. You’ll have to check out Stefan’s blog post all about those amazing days. (coming soon to his blog).

What you’ll find below is a mixture of 35mm, iPhone and digital shots of a very happy 10 days away from the computer and being totally immersed in living the life we work really hard at having.

Enjoy kids. Love Ming xx

Pirate shots. You had to swim out to the boat to get a shot of Bounty Rum and then swim back. Just like a pirate of course. Agrrr.

This is how you get water up your nose. The best netti pot ever.

Swimming. We did lots of this.

Surfing Desperations. When nothing else is breaking, you have to be pretty desperate to surf here. We were pretty desperate. The day before the swell hit. Photo by Stefan Jose
